Having just turned eighteen years old, Alexis Johnson is a senior at Socastee High School, located in Myrtle Beach, SC. Alexis, as well as her nine year old brother, Carter, are the children of Michael and Kelly Lay. Currently at her high school, Alexis is a co-captain of the Varsity Cheerleading team and is an involved member of DECA; a competitive marketing and business club that is in high schools nationwide. Aside from things within the school, Alexis is passionate about serving within her community; and now her state. Alexis intends to use her title as a megaphone for her platform entitled “H.U.G.” meaning “Homeless Uplifted by God”. In addition, Alexis would like to expand “Katie’s Project”; an organization that is in place to assist underprivileged girls with finding their dream prom dresses. In her free time, Alexis enjoys spending time with her friends and family… and of course shopping! Because of the fashion marketing classes she has taken, after high school, Alexis plans to attend the University of South Carolina to obtain a major in business, and a minor in fashion marketing. With her degrees, Alexis hopes to become a chief marketing executive of a major fashion company… though one of her major dreams is to become a model. Alexis has always dreamed of becoming a state title holder, and cannot wait to see what her year has in store for her.
